PGA’s of Europe Endorse SNAG The article below is from the November 2010 PGAs of Europe Newsletter... The Starter System that’s Fun while it Educates As a means of progressing the PGAs of Europe’s education policy as widely as possible, a partnership has been formed with SNAG, the start-up system that is regarded by sound judges as the most innovative and enjoyable way of introducing newcomers to golf. Start New At Golf, involves the use of cleverly-designed clubs with a large hitting area for striking a large soft ball. And, though designed specifically for children, the clubs can also be used for adults to enjoy, in an informal way, their first chance to play a version of the game. This means that, just like football and many other sports, a beginners’ version of the real thing can be readily available for all, including most importantly the sports department of schools. The SNAG equipment can be used in a public park or any other such area, including a beach, with complete safety. Where full-sized clubs with metal heads and small rock-hard golf balls can be a hazard, SNAG equipment has shown that people of all ages can play a fun game of golf with no danger to anyone. International Golf Development will also soon have a full Junior Development Programme to operate with SNAG equipment and manage TennGolf. TennGolf is a simple concept that converts an area approximately the size of a tennis court into a golf academy conveying all aspects of the game as well as the rules and etiquette associated with golf. In completing the partnership arrangement with SNAG, Ian Randell, the PGAs of Europe chief executive, said: “Ultimately golf development is at the very heart of all PGAs of Europe activities and initiatives. International Golf Development shares this determination to introduce the game to more people in a ‘fun’ way so that they keep returning. SNAG equipment has proven itself to be ideal for achieving this goal and the partnership provides a perfect fit for both parties. Obviously, by endorsing a suitable starter system in this way we feel that we are helping those coaches and qualified helpers, who seek to attract more youngsters, and indeed newcomers of any age to the sport, we are offering a tool that has been approved by our Education Committee.” James Healey, Managing Director of International Golf Development (IGD) added: “Both IGD and the PGAs of Europe have similar objectives in terms of promoting the development of the sport and the future growth of the game. Going forward the relationship will hopefully lead to increasing numbers of individuals and specifically families participating and enjoying the sport and therefore enjoying their own ‘lifetime in golf!’” Source: PGA of Europe November 2010 Newsletter |
